Forging & Manufacturing

Wyman-Gordon produces highly engineered titanium, steel and nickel-based alloy forgings for the aerospace, energy and military naval market. Wyman-Gordon's 50,000 ton hydraulic press is the largest operating in North America and allows manufacture of some of the largest monolithic forgings in use in aerospace and energy today. A compatible 35,000 ton press provided redundant forging capability, and the 1 million square foot facility in North Grafton, MA supports critical manufacturing processes, including heat treatment, target and sonic machining, and NDT.

Engineering

Wyman-Gordon provides full engineering services from collaborative concept development for developmental programs, to full design, modeling and simulation of production-ready forging products. 3-dimensional design of forgings and associated tooling uses CATIA V4/5. Proposed processes are simulated and refined with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) modeling techniques, and tool stress is analyzed and corrected prior to manufacture.
